KAWASAKI VELODROME
At a combination liquor shop and standing bar near Kawasaki Velodrome, local bicycle racing fans gather and drink. Most are old men who struggle to make a living for themselves; most have lived in this town their whole lives. This film, frankly captured with a fixed camera, gives voice to the lives of the elderly men who have been left behind by Japan's economy.

PROFILE
Sayaka Mizuno
I was born in Geneva, Switzerland and grew up there. Although I have never lived in Japan before, I have sometimes spent my holiday in Miyamae-cho, Kawasaki, Japan where my grandparents had lived. For a graduation film in Haute École d'art et de design Genève, I chose to film a velodrome nearby my grandparents' house and a bar room where people gather together after spectating bike races.
I hope that you could feel the daily life of laborers in Kawasaki, which is unremarkable, and contrastive to the cycle racers.
