Upon turning eighteen years old in spring, the children of the institution for orphans and abandoned children must leave the institution and live independently without economic support. I sometimes visit my friends with whom I had shared experiences with in the institution when I was five to twelve years old. They have made an effort to stand on their own two feet and confront their family problems individually even after leaving the institution.
It is meaningful to me to show this film in Nara where I grew up.
Since current Japanese society is paying increasing attention to social welfare, I hope I can prompt audiences to feel something from this film as a part of our ordinal world.
