After the Night on the Bridge

Program B

Two brothers who lost their mother to suicide at a young age are living a quiet life together in Tokyo. One night, the older brother, Yusuke, meets a woman who is trying to jump off a bridge, Natsuki, and starts to like her. The other brother, Akihiro, unexpectedly learns Natsuki's secret. In its elaborate dialogue typical of daily life, this is a film with a strange kind of sympathy in this era.

Born in Tokyo in 1998. After leaving the Environmental Information Dept. at Keio University, he learned filmmaking at the Film School of Tokyo. For his graduation from this school, he planned and directed this film, After the Night on the Bridge. Many parts of this film are construcuted as a dialogue, but most of it was inspired by stories related to his own mother.

Director’s Statement

Though it's embarrassing, this is one of those films that was made from actual experience. As a result, it has become a very precious film for me. I don't know if all of the audience will enjoy this film, I hope this film can be both a beautiful encounter and precious work for all of you.
