"MANANG BIRING" is a dark comedy-drama about a feisty, terminally ill old lady who has long accepted her imminent death due to stage-4 breast cancer, but then receives an unexpected letter from an estranged loved one announcing his return for Christmas.

Carl Joseph Papa

Papa is a software engineer by profession, but filmmaking has always been his passion. Since his debut short film, "eMo", in 2010, he has been creating short films that have received positive recognition; "ANG PRINSESA, ANG PRINSIPE AT SI MARLBORITA" is a stop-motion shadow animation which was the first animated short film to win at the Cinemanila International Film Festival. "TI PANAGAWID" is an experimental film featured in several film festivals abroad and at the 2013 Cinemanila International Film Festival. "THE UNFORGETTING" is his first feature film and won an award at the Quezon City Film Festival. In 2015, his first animated feature film, "MANANG BIRING" became part of Cinema One Originals 2015 Film Festival and won the festival's top prize.
